The Palm House of the Lodz Botanical Garden, located in Park Źródliska I, is an extremely attractive place that will delight both children and adult nature lovers. It is not only a place full of exotic plants, but also a living history of the city, dating back to the times of Lodz factory owners and tsarist officials who contributed to the development of this collection of plants.
The Palm House is divided into three parts:
Mediterranean Pavilion: Presenting plants characteristic of the Mediterranean climate.
Tropical Pavilion: Where you can admire a rich array of tropical plants, including more than 150-year-old palms, banana trees, araucarias, bamboos and fig trees.
Cactus Collection: A diverse array of cacti, including many rare specimens.
The facility also has a teaching garden, reminiscent of an English garden, with ginkgo trees, sequoias, metasequoias, Chinese dawidia, and azaleas and rhododendrons. More than 4,300 plants can be seen here, including orchids, bromeliads, begonias, ferns and crotons. The site is also home to turtles and koi carp, which are very popular with children.
The Palm House is perfectly suited for walks and relaxation - there are alleys, bridges, benches and picturesque ponds. Throughout the year there are periodic nature exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations, plant and book fairs, and various outdoor events, including workshops and handicraft exhibitions.
